Belkin F3X171-10 Serial File Transfer Cable Review

There are many, many different items I need to configure or load software into doing the job I do....a lot of it via a serial cable to a dock or console port.But not all null modem cables are created equal I found out the hard way a long time ago.Most newer items are fine with a simple 3-wire cable that crosses over only pins 2-3 (xmt-rcv) and passes ground.But many things require a full 5-wire that passes through the other signals as well....a 3-wire fails in these scenarios.This cable here is a full 5-wire...with both 25 and 9 pin connectors on EACH side.I also attached 9 and 25 Belkin Male-Male Gender changers....so this cable literally connects to everything and gets my job done without lugging around a bunch of different cables.If you are an unlucky tech like me who has to interface with items the old fashioned serial way on a regular basis....this cable will find a permanent home in your already full laptop case! I bought this cable to make patch cords for my network room.
There is the little tension string that has to be cut to put on ends.
The twists are tight and look good.
If you bend the cable too much the jacket does turn white but kinks are rare and easy to remove.
The jacket does pull back a tiny bit to allow you to work with the wires and then get it back in to place for crimping under the clip in the RJ45 end.
It comes in a box that allows the cable to me pulled out easy.
I have worked with lots of cables and this one was easy to work with.
