No matter what I did it won't connect at USB 3.0 speeds. The device keeps flashing red LED indicating that it is working as 2.0, which can be confirmed by pathetic transfer speeds.Windows 7 x64 BSODed once during SSD activity via this adapter.
Documentation calls for a download of some "AI Turbo" utility from [...] to "increase transfer speeds". At the moment of writing of this review the [...] site was conveniently down.
After tracking down a copy of AI Turbo on a different site and installing it on my machine it appears that it doesn't improve transfer a single bit. As an added bonus, it turns out that unless I have an SSD or HDD attached to this adapter during Windows boot, it would shut down all other USB devices attached to the computer (that is, including keyboard and mouse). Also Windows would hang on OS shutdown if there's no HDD attached to the adapter.
EDIT 1: Got a replacement unit from SYBA. The replacement shows exactly the same set of problems.
EDIT 2: After several rounds of installing and uninstalling different versions of USB and motherboard chipset drivers and several OS reboots I finally made it connect at 3.0 speed. This is the only USB 3.0 device I own which requires this particular combination of drivers, all others seemed to be working fine without it. The adapter continues to exhibit strange behavior, from time to time it connects in read-only mode. There have been several random disconnects during read/write operations (i.e. disk drive disappears in Windows).
EDIT 3: Attempted to use it to install Ubuntu on a spare Intel SSD drive I had laying around. It required a couple of reboots for BIOS to recognize the drive as bootable... After Ubuntu boots, in 10 to 15 seconds the drive becomes unusable (i.e. disk randomly dismounts or becomes read-only).
