i can confirm that the xps 16 is a power over esata port and it works well with this cable.

on the laptop side, only one cable is connected (the esata), on the other side, the power esata splits into a mini usb and an esata. both connect to the back of the acomdata enclosure, the mini usb carries power and the esata carries data
