I have upgraded the factory system in my car, and as part of this I installed an Alpine head unit that has an iPod USB interface. I at first used the standard (Apple) cable. Upon changing to this product, I immediately noticed a big change in both the quantity and quality of sound. By quantity, I mean both the actual volume output (much bigger) and also the range (much wider, particularly in the lower end/bass). By quality, I mean the clarity of the sound (cleaner and brighter). I am using a classic iPod with the highest quality (lossless) source/audio files.

Although this is an expensive cable, I would definitely recommend as a purchase. It is very sturdy/well built and of extremely high quality. My only complaint is that the connection to the iPod does not "snap" or "click" into place (i.e. it just goes in/out with no "release" tabs). As a result, the cable can be prone to coming out of the iPod depending on how you are using it. I have my iPod in my glove box where it is stationary so this isn't a problem.

I would definitely recommend the 1.5M v. the 0.75M to give you breathing room/options with your desired iPod placement. I originally purchased the 0.75M product and returned for the 1.5M for this very reason.

For reference I have the following equipment: Head Unit: Alpine CD-W235. Speakers: JL C2 coaxial speakers in front dash (3.5") and rear pillar (4"), Focal Access coaxial in front doors (6.5"). Subwoofer: JL Audio Microsub (8"). Amplifier: JL Audio 250x1 model v2
