Koutech Dual Channel SATA 6Gb/s PCI Express (x1) (2xInt) Review

Nice! Bought this in the hopes that it would recussitate one of those HP lemons (Pegatron motherboard).

These PCs are notorious for having their integrated SATA controllers burn out ~a month after warranty expiration.

The machines are too good to toss on the scrap heap - as they have 6GB RAM, so are decent for Win7. But they're also a bit too dated to sink much time and money into. Think older processors and DDR2 RAM. So not worth messing with costly, annoying motherboard replacement. And probably not worth trying to move RAM to another PC either.

So! This fit the bill nicely.

I did a fresh install of Win7 using a USB DVD drive. Win7 detected this card and installed drivers. You may need to adjust BIOS settings. Boots up just fine!

Voila! Resurrected the ol' HP lemon without too much money and effort invested. If you have one of those HP / Pegatron turkeys, it's worth a shot. Recommended!
