Product Description
This is a very inexpensive and highly effective way of turning your unused internal SATA ports into eSata external connectors, to bring the benefits of removable drives to your system. It even provides a Molex port, which would be pretty cool for powering external devices.Newer motherboards and computer systems may support SATA devices internally, but now there are more external devices (like hard drives) that use the SATA interface as well. How do you connect them to your computer? Add this NSI 2 Port SATA To eSATA Bracket! It adapts your internal SATA connectors for use with external eSATA devices. This simple bracket mounts in place with one screw (mounting screw not included), and the two cables connect to your motherboards SATA connectors. Please note, eSATA and SATA use two different port and plug shapes. The internal cables of this adapter use SATA plugs; the external ports of this adapter use eSATA ports. Package Included: 2 eSATA Ports Bracket x 1, 4 pin Molex to 15 pin SATA power cable x 1, eSATA to SATA Cable x 1NSIcable 2Port SATA To eSATA and 1Port Power Molex Bracket - Two Port eSATA to SATA + One Power Port Rear Panel Host Adapter - Convert 2 internal SATA connectors to the new external SATA connectors and add 1 external Molex Power port Review
The "NSI LK-13513 2Port SATA To eSATA and 1Port Power Molex Bracket - Two Port eSATA to SATA + One Power Port Rear Panel Host Adapter" is a nice product. One that I prefer to that of a competing product made by Connectland. To start, the NSI kit includes the external eSATA and power cables for the hard drive (see photo). Accessories that the other manufactures like Connectland would do well to adopt as the user is now being given a complete solution.
The SATA cables for the NSI product are terminated with nice latching SATA connectors (see photo) and do not slip off. Also, the NSI connectors, unlike those supplied with the Connectland product (red) are low profile, as are the Intel SATA cables (blue). This means the NSI SATA connectors can be double stacked on an Intel DP55KG motherboard. Letting the SATA ports on the motherboard to be made available in a sequential manner.
Unlike the connectors used on the Connectland product (see photo) the NSI product uses expansion slot connectors that are fully encased. This helps to keep the internal metal parts cleaner and reduce the possibility of corrosion. Having a case full of black cables, I appreciate the yellow color of the NSI SATA cables as it makes them easier to see and follow.
The DC power port wires going to the power supply Molex connector is 13 inches in length (see photo). This may be an issue for those with power supplies that sit above the motherboard and want to keep the conductors nicely dressed in the case without having to make use of an extender cable. In my application, using a Cooler Master Centurion 590 ATX Mid Tower Case and Ultra 600W X4 Power Supply am very pleased with the internal wire length.
With a price of $9.99, presuming consistent manufacturing quality and long life, recommend this product.
