USB 3.0 to eSATA 3Gbps Adapter Cable Review
When I purchased my Late 2012 iMac I was concerned how I was going to hook up my 4TB External HD up to it. It had plenty of ports but what choice to use. On the 2010, it was hooked up via Firewire 800 and the speeds weren't bad (40Mbs). Since there are no FW Ports on the new iMacs, I hooked it up via USB 2.0, but I was only getting 25Mbs. Not happy with that I found this adapter, and was pleasantly surprised with the speeds 190Mbs! Now of all of my externals, this one is the fastest. The only issue I'm running into is that the drive spins down and takes like 5 seconds to warm up, but besides that I'm very happy with this adapter and would highly recommend it.Update (01/28/2013): Had to stop using it after getting several writing permissions (error -50) errors in OSX. Latest version of Mountain Lion OSX. Couldn't add files to iTunes until a restart, couldn't add files to the external drive. Became frustrating. Took the adapter off and used the Apple Firewire to Thunderbolt Adapter and haven't had a problem since. The Firewire adapter is a lot slower, but it's not problematic. No write issues, or any errors. I can no longer recommend.
